Another Peak into My More Happy Little Moments Book!

Just last Friday, I was showing you guys a little bit of my More Happy Little Moments altered book.  Well, get excited, because I have some more yummy pages to show you!  WARNING there are a lot of photos, so I tried to make some collages to get all the details in.  You can always go see more pictures of this book here and here.

Isn't my puppy so adorable!  I'm still trying to get the hand of using gelatos.  I know that sounds crazy, but I feel like I sometimes use too much or not enough.  It really is an art.  There are a few different techniques and looks I wanted to include in this altered book:  lots and lots and lots of layers, tags, punched shapes, and watercolors.

As you can see, I've covered all that here on this spread!  In the picture in the top left, I tried so hard to get that banner tucked underneath the cork circle, but the sticker was stuck down and was not coming up!

I don't know if you guys have noticed, but I haven't done any journaling in this book yet.  Most of my spreads have small tags for hidden journaling, but some spreads don't, so I wanted to give myself some space just to write down what makes me happy and what I'm thankful for at this time in my life.

This picture of me and my husband is from a lifetime ago it seems!  The date on the picture isn't accurate, but it's still been awhile since that photo was taken.  There is something missing on the page with our photo on it, so I may have to go back in a try to add a doily/banner/label layers or something.

This spread has layers and tags and punched shapes, but it also has a glassine bag for my "hidden" journaling.  I incorporated an aqua arrow paper clip, exclusive to 2Peas and some ribbon.  I love making little ribbon tabs with my tiny attacher!

This spread is very special.  A year into our relationship, I got accepted into a graduate program in St. Louis.  Fortunately, Michael was always supportive and knew that I wanted to go back to school to get my Master's.  At that same time, he just started a new career in our hometown, so we decided that he would stay here and I would go to St. Louis.  And oh boy was that a hard two years to be apart.  And we were engaged for the last year of our long-distance relationship.  This day was really special for us for lots of reasons:  I received my Master of Public Health degree (because I'm a badass), but Michael and I had made it through those two years, stronger than ever.

This spread used a ton of layers behind the photo!  I love it!  And all those papers are from Dear Lizzy lines, 5th & Frolic and Polka Dot Party.  These are probably my favorite collections ever.

So, there you have it.  I'm still not finished with this book.  I probably have 6 or 7 more spreads to complete.  Hopefully I won't wait as long to get it finished as I did to start the album.  Don't forget to check out my gallery at Two Peas in a Bucket for more pictures from my More Happy Little Moments book or any of my other projects.  Also, Kelly and I have a new challenge up here.  Play along and you could win a $5 gift card to Two Peas in a Bucket!

Have a fabulous weekend!

Heather

Project Lifein' It Tuesday

I'm back today to share some more of my Project Life album.  Super, super behind by the way.  I am bound and determined though to be caught up by the start of 2014.  Did I just say 2014?!  I can't believe it!  The new year will be here before you know it.  Enough about how fast time flies, here's a spread from August (man, that seems like ages ago...).

All my cards are the Dear Lizzy 5th and Frolic edition of Project Life by Becky Higgins.  I just adore that collection.  I was able to find the die cuts at Hobby Lobby and the 12x12 paper pad at Michael's for $5!  Anyways, most of this spread documents the last Saturday my sister was in town.  I signed up to volunteer at a United Way event in the county I work to help raise money for my agency to get more funding from United Way.  I made Hollie come with me because I didn't want to be by myself.  Plus, it was good bonding time.  It was actually not as eventful as I thought.  We were assigned an obstacle, which we just made sure the runners didn't get hurt.  Because we were a little bored, we took lots of pictures.

I've been trying to get better at including more memorabilia, which I think I did well for this spread.  I included the email about volunteer registration, as well as the map of the race course.

A quarter of this spread begins to document my trip to St. Louis with my parents and sister to move Hollie into college.  My next 2 spreads I'll show next week will highlight the rest of that trip.

What I like most about this spread is the little bits and pieces I used that have been sitting on my scrap table for a long time.  I keep a few small trays on my table with journaling spots; labels; and bits and pieces from past kits, things I took out to use, but didn't, etc.  I like being able to finally use those bits.  Having those kinds of little pieces hanging out on my table has really helped me utilize my stash and scraps more.

There you have it; another spread done and making it's way to the album.  (OMG, you guys should see the pile of layouts and Project Life spreads sitting on my shelves that have not made it into an album!)  How are you doing keeping up with Project Life?  Did anyone change their documentation format like I did?

Heather

Coffee & College

Hollie
Hello everyone! I hope you have visited the page to check out Heather's awesome wish lists and the projects she's been working on. I know I check in frequently.
I would like to inform you guys on my new membership into Delta Zeta! It was a long process with many obstacles, but I couldn't be happier that I am now apart of this awesome sorority!

So anyway, I want to focus on Fall. Fall is the best season of the year, in my opinion. However, it might be skewed a little since my birthday is in Fall. (four weeks, if you were wondering). Fall, to me, seems to bring so many opportunities of change and reflection. A lot of people would relate fall to death because the leaves are falling and it seems to be overcast most of the time. Fall is my beginning. And I can tell you why. Fall is the beginning of a school year. Each year, over summer, you learn to reinvent yourself or find new things that seem to click toward you. You change. For me, especially this fall, I have changed in so many ways. And I honestly couldn't be happier in where I am in my life.

But another thing about Fall I love, is the activities! So many fun and awesome activities! The weather cools down and you can wear sweaters and boots (basically my daily outfit for this season), the air is crisp, the wind is breezy. You can finally start having/attending bonfires, oh come on, I know all of you love them! You can go out apple picking, travel to the local pumpkin patch, carve (or paint) pumpkins, ride hayrack rides, have/attend costume parties, and drink hot cocoa and apple cider! And for some of us, celebrate our birthdays! I know all of these things are on my "things to do" list while I'm down here, along with some haunted houses too.

So, what will you guys be doing this fall??

A New Blog Series Featuring My Sister!

As I hinted at yesterday, I have a guest blogger!  Well, she doesn't have her own blog, but she will have her own series of posts on my blog!  Let me give you a little background about how this series came to be.  Over the weekend, my sister sent me a rough draft of an English paper she was working on.  I can't tell you what the "instructions" were for this paper, but her writing style was amazing.  And yes, I am a little biased, but after you guys read her stories, I know I won't be the only one thinking this.  And not only is her writing style amazing, but her ability to tell a story is incredible.  As storytellers ourselves, we can really appreciate that talent.  After being amazed, as well as having learned something about my own sister, I asked her to guest post on my blog. There's the background and here she is...

Greetings all!
I am Hollie, Heather's sister. I am here to bring you an exciting series along with Coffee and Pretty Paper basically following me and my adventures and exploration as a college student. I know many are nostalgic of their college years, with them being the best part of the adolescent life . Or maybe you are still in high school searching for the college of your dreams, ready to be out on your own. Or maybe you never went to college and would like a taste of it. Whatever age, whatever your situation, you will enjoy this series. I want to show you the college experience, as real as it is. So kick back, enjoy the ride, and welcome to Coffee and College!

Now let me formally introduce myself. Hi, I'm Hollie. I am 18, turning 19 here in a couple months. I'm a freshman at the University of Missouri- St. Louis (UMSL, as you will be seeing it from now on) studying Criminology/Criminal Justice. I picked UMSL for their beautiful campus and of course because they are ranked TOP 4 in the nation for criminology and criminal justice studies. And we are literally minutes away from St. Louis! Let me clarify something just for the sake of time, UMSL is NOT St. Louis University (SLU) NOR is it University of Missouri- Columbia (Mizzou). I know it gets confusing. I like to think of it as a mixture of the two, to help people understand. I am a general member of the University Program Board here, otherwise known as UPB. You will hear about this a lot. We plan and organize events for students throughout the year, just making campus more interactive, helping people meet new people, especially those first few weeks of college. Now, there will be a later "starting" post officially starting this series in just a few days.

I wanted to introduce myself to you scrapbookers and coffee lovers. I hope you enjoy this series. I won't disappoint.

I hope you fall in love with my college and campus as you follow me through the roller coaster of emotions attached to the college experience.

xoxo,
Heather & Hollie
